Let's face it, those "tween" toddlers don't want to release the warm and fuzzy feeling of that wet diaper. They don't want to flash their newly acquired butts to the cold world. So, parents it's up to you!
I know, I know for all of this time you have perfected the art of wiping their tiny bottoms without getting even as much as a fingernail wet or poopy. Dads, you probably just mastered how to change that stinky thing right before the game resumes at the 2 minute warning.
You probably are trying to figure out what that darn diaper genie thing will be used for now, after months of marveling how soiled diapers become link sausage.
Well, I'm here to help you get on the right track.
So, let's start with preparing you for what's in store. Ready???
- Your child will release his bodily functions in many other places than the potty.
- Your child will not pee or poop on your schedule.
- You will slide in some invisible pee and almost fall if you have floors in your home.
- Your may find random feces gifts sprinkled around the house during this learning process.
- Your child will not use the newspaper..no matter how hard you try!
So...I will give you some time to "get cha, get cha head in the game" (for you Disney followers),
and go into the telephone booth change into your costume with the large "P" on your chest, and get ready to get this potty training thing started!
See ya next time!

ReplyDeleteMy BABY was having the toughest time going potty. I felt bad because as I was trying to teach her and as I was it seemed like it was becoming more difficult. My mom gave me this program and it worked!! http://bit.ly/YcQhcf

ReplyDeleteWhen your child is not willing to learn things or is not interested in accepting what you are trying to impart, you shouldn’t start potty training because all your efforts would go to vain. You must remember that it might take only a week to train her/him perfectly if you are patient and she/he is cooperative. Otherwise, it may take months.

Patience is the key. There will be accidents and bumps in the road. As a parent, you must be patient and consistent. We discuss this point frequently on our site - www.pottytrainlikeapro.com
ReplyDeletePotty training can be so hard, I've also been there. But luckily I stumbled upon a website and it really worked great, wish I knew of that earlier.
ReplyDeleteCan really recommend it to every parent that is struggling out there! --- http://doiop.com/gaa339
We used these helpful tips at first but even after using them and many other resources we still had a hard time training my boys. I came across this site that showed my wife and I how to potty train our son within three days and it was even guaranteed. . . There were some great techniques and helpful information there that I felt compelled to share with others. We've been trying to potty train my son for the last six weeks with no luck, Googling potty training was turning up outdated techniques and some of them we believe were even harmful. Until we came across this site, that a friend of my wife's told us about and within three days it worked. We followed the instructions and "eureka" we found a successful formula. I just felt that others might have been in the same place me and my wife were last week. So I hope this helps and good luck with your training.... O' almost forgot here's the site: www.ThreeDaysPottyTraining.com
ReplyDeleteI don’t normally comment on articles, but I have an experience I’d like to share that will hopefully help others in a similar position as myself. We recently started to potty train my daughter (Emily) any time my husband and I tried to "potty train" my daughter it seemed like nothing was working! I did a lot of searching and found this site called PottyTraining101.cf which allowed me to potty train my daughter quickly and calmly. As it turns out, me and my husband were not using the correct techniques. But I can now happily say that I no longer worry about her, she is now fully potty trained. I have even recommended it to family members and friends. If anyone is in a similar position, I recommend using PottyTraining101.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment, Margie.

ReplyDeleteHi Portia! First of all, I love your blog. Always helpful. I wanted to share a resource I used. My daughter loves to read so I wanted to find a book to help her learn how to use the big girl potty. Twigtale popped up with a book called "I Use the Potty!" All of the language was there, all I had to do was personalize the book with pictures of Molly, the toilet in our house, and a few other personal photos. It was super easy...especially since I'm not very computer savvy. I was impressed by the quality of the book and Molly's response to it. It has really been a huge help! I know it can be a struggle, but this book made it fun! http://www.twigtale.com/books/potty-training/

ReplyDeleteThis potty training worked for my son.
ReplyDeleteI Wasted money so many times, but It worked for us! My little one just turned 19 months. He def goes poop on the potty EVERYTIME and tells us. He is too little yet to "know" when he has to pee (thats what our pedi said at his 18 month check up). We use cloth diapers and hes just getting to the point where he knows when hes wet and does not like it. I think by the end of the month he will get the hang of peeing. Today we made it out of the house for 2 hours with out a pee accident. GOOD LUCK!

ReplyDeleteWhat is 3 Days Potty Training?
ReplyDeleteKids must reach a particular level of neurologic and emotional maturity, before they can go to toilet by themselves. Girls can achieve toilet training a couple of months earlier than boys. So, forcing is not the right thing to do before these ages. Around the age of 2, children are more likely to say “no”, frequently uses the word “mine”, and want to do the things without others approval in an insistent way.
They can interpret suggestions of their parents as an intervention against their life, independency, and body. Toilet training can be started as paying regard to such psychological traits, around the age of 2 and 2,5.
Toilet training must not coincide with some certain events like; the birth of the sibling, sickness times, any disunity situation within the family. In a nutshell, just make sure the training is not happening in a new situation or a situation requires an adaptation.
How toilet training should be handled?
As the right time decided, the talks should be made with the kid. The topic of these talks can be about how adults do their toilet, or any relevant thing such as telling them it is good to stay dry. Kids can be promoted to use the potty or the toilet at the times they refuse to get their nappies changed. Characters from stories, and how they use the toilet can be told.
When it is noticed that the child is keen about the subject matter, the children may be accompanied to get his/her potty. The potty can be stored in the kid’s room, then can be taken to the bathroom later. You can tell how it is used, but not in a forcing way. You can also make the child realize the other kids using the toilet.
3 times every day 5-10 minutes should do it. Due to the gastro colic reflexes, 20 or 30 minutes after the meals would be the right timing. The child must be awarded after the successful trials, and this should be actualized over and over again with patience. Even if they only sit for a couple of minutes, it’s also good to give them credit though the trials are not that successful. You can help and show them to throw the nappy stool into the toilet.
Eventually, the child will be awarded when the defecation is actualized in the proper place. You can clap or small gifts can be given. On the other hand; punishment or causing embarrassment should not be made if the child refuses to use the potty, or scares to use, or experiences small accidents. Especially summer months are the perfect times, when it’s not necessary for the child to wear a nappy. During these such periods, it’s pretty crucial to remind parents that they have to concentrate on the issue without feeling stressed, focus on the child’s emotions, and try to behave more flexible since all kids are different.
Some difficulties might be experienced during the toilet training. The child may completely refuse to do it, shows no interest, sits for some time without doing the defecation and does it as soon as wears a nappy, tells you that it hurts, may reject doing it after several successful trials, sometimes holds the poo in for several days and eventually experiences constipation.
During the training the relationships may get damaged; if any sort of obstinacy comes forward, It’d be the right choice to wait for the right time until the child feels ready; and without causing any envious feelings, making him to realize how the peers have achieved the toilet training. To parents: Just kick back and relax, take a deep breath, never feel upset, and frustrated. After all, there is no one that has not achieved toilet training so far, just try again at a later time, try to know your child better and simply show your love even though he or she fails during this timeline. If constipation becomes a major problem, diet advices can be received and supplements can be used.

I never potty trained my son. At 3.5 years old he did it on his own and never looked back! No fighting, no tears, no stress. It was all excitement and celebration. My job was just to give him the tools and the knowledge and lots of praise!
